We have already written several detailed explanations of Yoga asanas.
Talk about the details that you think you will do, but when you think about it carefully, you find that you are not sure how to do it; Or some small doubts and details in asana.
For example, whether to stretch or hook your feet in sitting, standing and bending forward; When the hands are raised horizontally, the palms are up or down; Whether the hip joint rotates inward or outward in mountain standing.
I’m glad that many friends have also expressed their opinions and doubts in the following comments.
Today, let’s talk about two small details.
1.
The feet are the same width as the hip.
Some people say they are the same width as the pelvis.
How wide is that? 2.
The feet are parallel.
Is the inner edge parallel or the outer edge parallel? To figure this out, let’s first look at a structural diagram of the human body.
As we said before in the figure below, when standing, keep the hip, knee and ankle in a straight line, because the force line from top to bottom is the straightest, which ensures that the three joints are vertical to the ground, so as to minimize the pressure on the three joints and balance the pressure on the joint surface of the three joints.
Question 1: so whether it is the same width as the pelvis or the same width as the hip, it means that it is the same width as the distance between the hip joints on both sides, which is most beneficial to the joint.
How to test the width? Let’s look at the second question.
The first problem has determined that the hip, knee and ankle are on a vertical line.
We don’t look at the inner edge and outer edge of the foot first.
The most standard should be: continue to extend this straight line from the hip joint from both ankles down and forward to the sole of the foot, so as to ensure that both sides are still parallel.
So the answer is obvious: neither the inner edge of both feet is parallel, nor the outer edge of both feet is parallel, but let the second toe of both feet be parallel to each other, or the position between the second and third toes be parallel to each other.
Why is it so complicated about where the feet are parallel? Because we have different leg shapes, some people have outer eight characters, and some people have inner eight characters.
Finally, in practice, make the second toe of your feet parallel to each other, and then the distance between your feet is about equal to the distance between your two fists.
