Click “Ashtanga Yoga road” above to subscribe! In yoga postures, some teachers often talk about sequence; But I don’t know if you have such a feeling
.
Anyway, I think the concept of sequence is very vague
.
In many cases, it is only roughly understood as what the body should look like in a specific posture action
.
In the minds of most of us, ranking is usually a certain balance we want to pursue in practice at the physical level; Some people may have a deeper understanding – they will say that the balance at the physical level will further help the practitioner’s brain and consciousness enter a deeper level, and reveal more possibilities of movement and existence dimensions
.
However, most teachers who often talk about “alignment” often can’t speak out the principle of alignment in a very simple and clear way, and can’t reveal how alignment practice can help practice find the deep experience of yoga
.
The most basic elements of alignment are reasonable body structure and solid and reliable posture from an anatomical point of view; It is to make bones and joints more reasonable in posture, so as to bring less damage and more healing; But even from the physical level of the body, we will listen to different teachers teach completely opposite action essentials; Teachers from different backgrounds have different theoretical backgrounds and experiences
.
Sometimes they have different requirements for a student’s alignment in a specific position, such as whether the pelvis should be neutral or slightly backward, whether the gravity line should fall in the middle of the ankle or in the front of the sole of the foot; Perhaps the best situation is that the teacher can only convey her / his understanding of the order in some way, and it is up to the practitioner to find out what the order said by the teacher means to me for his own body and specific practice conditions
.
So if we want to find the sequence in practice or to practice yoga with “clockwise” method, it is probably not that teachers give you such and such tips, or you can see the official account or WeChat group has such a strategy
.
The important thing is not to have the general anatomical knowledge of graduate students in medical school; It is more important to understand some simple and basic ranking criteria
.
The principle of the first alignment of the body midline and vector plane is suggested by Guru BKS Iyengar: focus on the “median plane” of the human body – called sagittal plane in Anatomy – the longitudinal section that divides the human body into left and right parts through the midline of the human body (right side in the figure below)
.
A classmate told me that he often felt that the right neck was very tight after Sarvangasana’s shoulder handstand, Very uncomfortable
.
I suggested that he observe himself
.
By checking the midline of his body, he found that the whole chest, pelvis and legs were biased to the right, which caused more pressure on the right side of the neck
.
The vector plane helps him see where he needs to adjust
.
Through his own observation, the practitioner finds that the body is unbalanced in the vector plane, and then he will automatically start to adjust and improve the order
.
The feeling of the body in posture a very important scale for ranking is the practitioner’s own awareness, How do you feel in posture, whether you are comfortable, whether your breathing is relaxed, and whether your brain is nervous The body is comfortable, the breathing is relaxed, and the posture sequence when the brain is quiet should be no big problem
.
For example, for the student in front, I continued to ask him to focus on the seventh section of the cervical spine, that is, the bone protruding from the root of the neck
.
Let him focus on whether the weight of the shoulder is in the middle of the bone or on the right side? Continue to let him bring his awareness to the hand supported on the back of the rib and feel whether the rib cavity leaning against the hand is side up and side down? Is the thorax balanced on both sides? For example, I want to say that the practitioner should be responsible for the order and discover the feeling of his body, because what drives the order should not be imposed from the outside, but from the inside
.
In order for the order to come from internal awareness, we need to be in the pose, not do the pose- Is to enter the position and become this position instead of struggling to maintain this position
.
For example, in head handstand sirsasna, many people use the strength of their arms and shoulders to support themselves in the pose
.
We can say that they are doing headstands, but at this time, too much muscle effort has actually pushed the spine away from the proper position
.
At this time, the external body drowns the internal body
.
For such students, I want to encourage them to relax the “hold” power of their arms and bring awareness to the core of their body
.
It is important to find a balanced alignment of the spine and observe how this affects posture
.
When you start from the spine to finely perceive the internal order, your position will usually become lighter and do it without any effort
.
At the beginning of the transformation from appearance oriented to internal oriented, many people will feel that headstand becomes unstable and shaky
.
At this time, they may need the encouragement and support of teachers
.
But this is often the key moment for yoga practitioners to change: give up the false sense of security and pursue the real balance inside
.
The order of the external structure is not the purpose
.
The order of the external body structure is only a general order, which is the beginning rather than the end of the order; In this example, we use a short wave radio to adjust the station – at first, we adjust the gross estimation through the physical knob
.
We can hear one, but we can’t hear it clearly due to electrostatic interference; So we fine tune the sound to make it clear and pure
.
The sequence of yoga practice is a process of fine-tuning to realize the core of one’s own existence; This process can only be completed by the practitioner himself
.
Of course, teachers can provide all kinds of help and guidance in this process, but good Yoga teachers will not “feed” students and feed them “order”, but help them find their own order
.
For example, if a good teacher sees that the students are standing and flexing the hip imbalance on both sides of Uttanasana, he will encourage them to find their own imbalance on the vector plane, and then the students will find the key to the order, such as the wisdom of their own body by lifting the groin or changing the weight of their feet
.
Sequencing is a phased process
.
Sequencing is not achieved overnight
.
It can be achieved at once; For practitioners, only after completing one stage can they enter the next stage; For teachers, they should also realize that students can meet the requirements of the next order only when they open the previous one
.
For example, when the practitioner is doing the dog Adho Mukha svanasan, if the shoulder is very tense, then the student is certainly not ready to start the practice of headstand
.
Therefore, the sequence can not be simply understood as what the posture looks like, but a deeper understanding and discovery of the posture
.
This process is supported, guided and helped by the teacher, but must be completed by the practitioner himself – that is, the deeper understanding and experience of the practitioner on the posture is the sequence she / he pursues
.
In order, we must practice our own products, fine products, that is, through regular practice to establish awareness of the wisdom of the body itself( (end of the article) astonga Yoga wonderful line class scanning picture QR Code: click below“
