There are about 10 kinds of breathing methods in yoga.
The basic ones that are relatively simple and easy for beginners to master are “chest breathing method”, “abdominal breathing method”, “alternate breathing method”, and so on.
There are also some more complicated “singing breathing method”, “voice breathing method”, “bellows breathing method” and so on, which are commonly used by yoga learners with a higher degree.
Basically, breathing is divided into abdominal breathing, chest breathing and abdominal chest full breathing.
01 Abdominal breathing supine, gently put your hand on your belly button; When inhaling, draw the air directly to the abdomen; Inhale correctly, and lift your hands with your abdomen; The deeper you inhale, the higher your abdomen rises.
With the expansion of your abdomen, the diaphragm will descend.
Then exhale and draw the abdomen inward toward the spine; With the action of contracting the abdomen as much as possible, exhale all the exhaust gas from the lungs.
In this way, the diaphragm will naturally rise.
02 Chest breathing Lie on your back or sit with your back straight, inhale deeply, but do not let your abdomen expand; Instead of abdominal expansion, air is drawn directly into the chest area.
In chest breathing, the chest area should be expanded and the abdomen should be flat.
Then, the deeper the inspiration, the inward direction of the abdomen toward the spine; When you breathe in, your ribs expand outwards and upwards, then exhale, and your ribs move downward and inward.
03 Complete breathing is the combination of the above two kinds of breathing.
It is a natural way of breathing.
After a little practice, this way of breathing will be automatically carried out in all daily exercises and life.
Inhale fully into the chest.
The abdomen is naturally retracted.
The lower end of the ribs will expand, but the belly button should not rise and fall.
This complete breathing of yoga has many benefits: the blood is purified by increasing the oxygen supply; The lung tissue is robust, enhancing the disease resistance; The vitality and endurance of the chest and abdomen have increased, and the mind has become clearer.
So when practicing yoga postures, you should use the above three kinds of breathing.
It’s better to breathe completely.
